89911-
Sorry I didn't see your (this) thread earlier, and posted my own.
Interesting article.

Is it a 73 body with a 993 motor in it? Do they mention if S-Car-Go did all the work? I think the owner lives in Nevada but keeps the car at S-Car-Go because he can't register it in NV for some reason...

If this is the same car, this IS the ultimate 911 IMHO. Like I said, I haven't seen the article yet but I can't imagine that ANY picture would do this car justice. The details are impeccable - the gauge faces, the roll bar welds, the seats, the fuel cell - this thing is a work of art.

Rob King has a photo album 3 inches thick with pictures of every step of the life of the car from when the tub rolled up on the flatbed to the day it went out the door.

If this isn't the same car, well then Excellence has another article to write.

Dean

It is one and the same!

IT'S AN AWESOME CAR FOR SURE...BUT...

I'm not trying to be picky, but for a cost of a buck 30 you would(or at least I do...) expect the panel to panel fitment to be flawless....

so look at the bottom of the door where it should meet the rocker panel.....pg. 72 top photo..... not a real big deal but remember what's being paid out.....

Same page, at bottom, text reads: "He refused to accept mis-mated panels or discontinuity of any sort..."

So......uhhh, what's up wit dat?

I am only mentioning this as it is made very clear to the reader this car cost $130,000.00 usd.........

Is it unreasonable to expect at this price, real, flawless panel to panel fitment?

Heck, my wife's Lexus GS400.....no, on 2nd thought .....I won't even go there...........

Yeah, on the pic of the rear end, the passenger's side taillight and/or fender is out of whack too.

Nice car, and I guess it's a nit, but when you go out of your way to say you refused any mismated panels, etc . . .

Why are you guy drooling over that car?

The Kelly-Moss car is the star......they dont mention how much that one cost.

Great point...!!!

The K-M car is a real treat as well.....and it's race-ready too.

That yellow one looks like the one I saw @ TRG last winter. The body was powder coated. He mentioned they had over 80 hours of labor in it just to remove the undercoating. It was on a lift next to a 935, so I kinda didn't spend a lot of time or film on it.

I liked the car....I have to agree that if I had 130K to spend I would probably have some outrageous turbo car or several nice early cars. My bone of contention was the actual writing in the article. Yikes! Seems like the writer may have just studied analogy 101 in night school writing class. Im no writer by any means but there was so much fluff in that article that I found it to ponderous to even finish!!! Did anyone else notice that or am I just being too picky. Cool car tho....that yellow really pops!

makaio 12-18-2002 07:02 PM

It's a nice car, and i would love to have that motor in my SC. I just wouldn't have spent that much $ for one car.

Just got the Feb/03 issue, and started to read the article in question.

Nevermind the $130,000 car......
What was David Coleman smoking when he wrote this?!?!

forget all those...how about the #59 car on page 113?

pbs911 12-27-2002 09:28 AM

I think it is a great car and project. I would have loved to do it myself. Something is just missing when you have someone else do the work.

But how do you get 320 hp out of NA 95 993 motor? No internal changes are reported, merely flycutting the heads to bump the compression a little, headers and a chip. 320 hp seems a little generous.
