Porsche Classic Motor Oil

THE UNOBTANIATE | Porsche News Bits Brought To You By Unobtanium Inc

"Also making its debut is the new Porsche Classic motor oil in 20W-50 and 10W-60 versions; together with the Porsche Development Centre, it was specially developed for air-cooled flat engines, and it offers optimal protection against wear and corrosion. Naturally, it is “Made in Germany.” Starting in mid-April, Porsche Classic motor oil will be available at all global Porsche Centres."

For the first time I'm considering buying motor oil based on cool looking container

My car isn't depicted on either of those cans. What am I supposed to buy?

I have already wasted hours reading "which oil" threads. I will pretend I never saw this one. Whats next - classic freon?

Thank god it doesn't say vintage then I would think it was old oil that has been filtered or something. Cool can though, would look good on a shelf. I hope that red part pops out or one will have a hell of time pouring the oil out.

I'm holding out for 10W-100. As the car warms it should come to a complete stop.

LOL at many replies. On a serious note, if anyone would care to send me a ~2oz sample in a clean inert container I'll pay to have a virgin oil analysis done and publish the results. PM me for deets.

I don't know if it's "Classic", but this is what I run in my 993 gearbox. Porsche branded (I think Shell might have been the OEM) and available at the dealer:

And those oil cans are beautiful! I too would be unable to toss them out. I'd likely use the empties to build a room.
