strut braces

Is a strut brace a good thing to add to a cab? I have an '88 cab with Bilstein HD/sport combo, beefier T bars, smart racing sway bars, turbo tie rods, 17" wheels, big brakes and a 3.6. The car is designed to be a fun street car. Should I add a strut brace? I know that chasis are designed to have certain amounts of flex in certain areas. Will a strut brace adversely affect such design and stiffen up one area, only to put too mch stress in another? If not, are there any meaningful distinctions among the many strut braces out there? Do they really make a difference?

Thanks,
Lew

Re: strut braces

I have one in my cab, and like the handling much better than without.

Could you be more specific as to what part of handling it improved?

Cheers,

Honestly -

I've got one in my '87. It is the JM brand sold here at Pelican. For street driving I find it hard to tell much difference. Possibly the turn-in is a little more precise but I have no proof of that.

Looks good when people check out your car.

I will test the difference next year (March) when I do some track racing. I'll compare it off and on. Before then, not really sure of the benefit.

Cheers
Mark

Are there are meaningful differences among the various strut braces out there? If not, which one looks the coolest?

Lewis, I have a Camber Truss in my 86 Cab and could tell the better handleing the first corner I took. I do not notice as much roll with it and would highly recommend you get one. The bang for your buck is incredible to what your car will feel like.

Roll has never been a problem with my ride but what about push? Will the truss make it push less? If it makes it stick better, then I want one.

I installed the Weltmeister a few weeks ago, and I think it was about the best money I've spent on my car. The front end has a solid feel to it around tight turns. It also seemed to quiet the car a bit going over things like RR tracks.
