16x9 Tire Choices

Hello,

I am about to purchase a set of tires for a 16x9 inch rim. I am not sure what would be the ideal tire size.

I have been told that the best would be a 245/45-16. I was also told that if I wanted I could go larger but to a 50 series profile. I dont know what the best application would be. I do track my cars so I was hoping to keep the profile under a 50 series.

As well, I will be dropping the ride height alittle and I dont want to worry about rubbing.

What do you guys run with on your 9 inchers? Btw... my car is an '85 Carrera with the standard fenders.

Also... I was told the the Bridgestone tires are the way to go but they were fast. I drive alot...! Any medium you guys can recommend?

Unfortunately, you don't have a lot of options, as 16" performance tires are going the way of the dodo. 245/45 is a good fit. I tried a 265/xx and it didn't look right.

I liked the 265x45x16 Kuhmo Victoracer on a 16x9 rim. Not many 265x45 choices for sure.

I have some RE730 245x45x16 and 205x50 with less than 1,000 miles for $300 if interested. I went to 17 inch rims.

I expect you have looked here?

I use Michelin MXV4's 225 60 16 on my 9x16 993 wheels. I was informed that Porsche tends to overtire their cars... seems they were right.

Cheers,

Joe

How soon? Does this include DOT track tires?
