Question about clutch pedal spring - blue or silver?

I have a '74 (non-omega spring 915). When I rebuilt my pedal cluster about a year ago, I replaced the clutch pedal spring and ordered the part number for a '74. The spring looks the same as the old except it is a blue coated spring. However, it seems like the spring is much stronger than the old (non-blue) spring. I attributed this to the old spring being worn.

I now see that there is a different part number for the later cars and I'm also wondering what is the difference. Ever since I installed the "74 only blue spring" the clutch pedal is like driving a truck (more like a simi-truck).

I recently bent my clutch pedal and it seems like the tension is too strong. I'm thinking about trying the later spring but I was wondering if anyone has any info on the differences between the two springs

Part: 911.423.305.05.M100 Blue '74 Only

Part: 911.423.305.06.M100 Later Spring

I'm interested in this too. I have a new cluster for my '82 ready to go in and it's got the blue spring on it.

I don't know when it was first used, but the change in spring may be due to later cars having the omega helper spring on the transmission.
