Hey guys-
is anyone running RE-11's 16x7 225/50 front 16x8 245/45 rear on a euro height SC with rolled fenders? I'm not sure if the tires will rub if i get this setup... I read the RE-11 is a bit wider than other tires the same size. Currently i'm running AD08's 205/55 & 225/50. Thanks.

I run the RE-11a. 225/50R16 front, 245/45R16 rear. I have 16x8 fronts and 16x9 rears on a LOW 911SC. The fenders are rolled and there is no rubbing.

I have 205/55/16 RE-11 in front on 7" Fuchs with rolled fenders and I've never had a problem. 225 might be pushing your luck with the stock 7" Fuchs offset, someone else will have to chime in. In the rear you'll be fine, I have 245 on 9" (same outward distance as 8 I believe) on non-rolled rear fenders. I even think I could go a 1/2" spaced out but it's not really worth the trouble of putting longer studs in.
My ride height is 24.5 in rear and 24.75 in front but the suspension is pretty stiff, 30 & 22 TB ![]()

Thanks for the input guys! Since i have 16x7's up front maybe i should stick with the 205''s and go with the 245's on the 16x8 in the rears.
First time buying the RE-11's do you guy's like them? How are they in rain? Not like i take the sc out in the rain but you never know when the weather will change.

I have been on these tires since Nov 2015 and am very pleased. Wet or dry, street or track they feel great. Better than PS2, better than MPSS, way better than Sumitomo, better than SO-4, close to RS-3. They love heat and don't work vey well at temps much below 50F.
No idea about fitment on your car.

Yeah, I was actually surprised how much the 205's grew when I went from 6" to 7" up front, definitely fill the wheel well and you'll be "guaranteed" not to rub. Performance wise I've never felt the 205's understeer on me during the three track days I have on them. Overall I've been thrilled with their performance on and off the track, they are a little firm on bumpy roads but thats a trade off Im happy to have. Never felt them getting slimy at the end of 20 min sessions on hot days and actually have never broken loose on me in even the slightest. My previous tires, Hankook Ventus V12 Evo did well but did get slimy when very hot on track and controllably broke the rear loose a few times. I've only driven the RE-11 in heavy rain once when I got caught out on a trip. They did fine but I was babying it. I, like you try to never drive in the rain. Actually contemplating a set of max performance all-seasons for track rain tires. I know you won't be breaking any records with them but at least you'll have some piece of mind and not watch your DE fee go down the drain. Tire Rack wet reviews are actually very good on them, maybe Im just paranoid.

I love mine except if I get caught in the rain or cold. I made a quick trip up to the local mountains when a weather front came in; temps dropped to 50 and it started raining. The drive up the mountain was a blast and the drive down was scary. I don't see how tire rack can give them a good review for rain as I felt it became a completely different tire.
I run the 225 and 245 on a euro height SC with lots of negative and rolled fenders with no problems

Re11
Hello
I have a set of RE11 on one of my cars and they are the best overall tire I've tried. I only wish they came in 15 inch sizes for my long hood. You know how tire sizes can be tricky, almost to the point of being just approximate, so keep in mind that the RE 205/55/16 is a very wide tire. If you put it next to other manufacturer's 215 it almost looks wider, but still fits nicely on a 7 inch wheel without rubbing. I'm pretty sure you could fit them in a 8 inch wheel without stretching it much and it would look fantastic if you want that vintage look.

I had them on my '88 and loved them. Excellent ride, very responsive, quiet, and actually quite good in the rain. Even with standing water I found them very good for normal driving, but never pushed them as on a track. With cautious driving they were acceptable at cold temps as well.

I have a set of RE11a on my 87. 205 and 225 on 7 and 8's. These required me to roll the front fenders as I was cutting the passenger sidewall when the suspension compressed. Like most softer tires I've had, they tend to flat spot quite easily, but a few miles and they warm up just fine.
I find them overkill for the street, but quite at home on the track. I'll mirror what others have send about being sensitive to temps, like any summer only tire. |

I'm surprised no one has yet mentioned the standard disclaimer that 245s are happier on 9" wheels than 8". If you really want a 245/45/16, your options are very limited; 205/225 opens up many more street tire varieties in 16". Your other street tire option in 245/45/16 is the less sticky T1R.
I have yet to try the RE-11 and thus can't comment on the sidewall stiffness; but most street tires feel wobbly to me when the wheel is too narrow, while most 200 tw or less performance tires can handle the "pinch" a bit better. It's not going to make your car capsize or explode, but I can sure notice it even on the street and prefer to avoid the wobbles.

I installed RE-11s this past summer -- basically my only tire option with 16x9's in the rear. I did have rubbing issues with the 205/55/16's on the front. Part of the problem may have been that the potholes on the Indiana tollway threw my alignment out of whack. But in addition to the alignment I did have to raise the car.
Since you have rolled fenders you might be OK, though, even with the wider tire. |

Thanks for all the great responses!
So I take it that a 245's won't work well with a 16x8 wheel as opposed to a 9? I would love to have 205 or 225 >(but might rub) up front and 245 on rear 16x7 and 16x8 or maybe i should just play it safe and just run 205 front and 225 rear? decisions, decision...

I did have to adjust the camber/toe as they rubbed at US ride height on my 1978 SC. I lowered to below Euro height and rolled the fronts. No issues now and the car handles superbly and it looks right. It varies car to car as they all can be off a little as they were hand built.
