Hey gang
Getting my car out of 4 month storage on friday and will be driving 1.5 hours after starting Any reason going ahead of time and tricjle charging is brtter than my mate boosting me on the day? I assume it will be needed altho I visited the car a month ago and all the accessories worked off battery but Indidnt turn her over Thanks |

I keep my car on a tender when it won't be driven every few days. A $25 Battery Tender Jr might extend the life of your battery by years...particularly if it's stored for long periods of time.

If the friend is going to follow you home, go for it. Let it 'boost" with pal's engine running for a half hour before starting to get some life into it.
It ain't the best for your alternator but sounds like the battery is just weak, not dead.

I read the OP's first post as indicating that he turned the ignition to the on position, saw accessories worked fine, but didn't try starting it. If this is the case, I'd first try starting it as-is (keep it simple) -- if it starts, he should be all set, as a battery that has enough power to successfully crank a starter should be just fine.
If it doesn't start without assistance, giving it a good 1/2 hour charge (either with the friend's engine or with a good charger) should get you where you wanna go -- again, not BEST for the alternator, but folks have done this since the advent of alternators without catastrophic results. |

Trickle chargers arnt meant for charging batteries either. I know my battery tender wont do a damn thing if the battery too far down on voltage. The best is to bring a normal battery charger and let it do its job for an hour or so. But I dont feel bad about letting the alternator charge the battery either. If It cant do it its no good anyway.

Dead battery will kill an alternator, if it’s just low it will be Ok. Best to charge battery with charger. Long drive after a jump is good, check voltage, lower than 10v will stress alternator and wiring.

I don't know how you all think but when I read of a 3.2 I picture a "new" car relative to my 81 SC.
