Questions to pose to 996 owners?

What's a couple of good questions to ask 996 owners to establish if they're just 'owners' or whether they know anything about their cars.

You know.... questions that will dumbfound a classic 'I own a Porsche' owner, but would be logical (conversational) questions for an enthusiast to discuss.

I'm curious because I'd like to cut to the short and curlies (find out without too much bull****) who in a club I've just joined, has real interest in their car as opposed to those who are just there for the show. Unfortunately most of the cars 95% are 996's and because of the language barrier (Their Chinese, my English - or vise versa) I don't want to spend lots of time working out who really knows a thing or two about their car.

I'm sure they're all really nice guys but I'd just like to mingle initially with those who have a passion for their P-car not a passion for their image. A couple of quick conversational questions should sort out the wheat from the chaff.

Thanks
Mark

Ask them if they have ever "desludged" their engine with transmission fluid. Like this guy.

You could start by asking them if their 996 is their first Porsche. That should be good opener and the conversation that follows should clue you in as to whether or not they are an enthusiast.

I believe this "desludging" is a recommended procedure for the 996 which is to be performed every 5000 miles. I'm sure it's in the manual. Any 996 owner worth his salt will know this...a sure way to separate the posers from the afficianados.
