Tach lights not working '84 911 coupe

Tach lights were working properly before pulling tach out to clean inside glass. Labeled each wire and made sure they and connectors attached back where they should. All bulbs looked fine. When I turned on lights, all gauge lights worked properly but none were on in the tach housing. Turn signal arrows work properly, rev counter registers rpm. Will be replacing turn signal/hi beam switch/flasher does not work. Could this be a short or missing power supply to bulbs and what do I check? I have not dealt with major electrical issues before.
All help appreciated.

Thanks!

IraG

Will not be the power supply as the black with blue stripe wire is inline, so if it was shorted all lights will not work.

Re-check the brown ground connector, that is the usual connector culprit

Also are the bulbs seated correctly?

Oh yeah, Welcome Aboard.

One more thing, when you pulled the bulbs out, did you use a screw driver or just pull the wire? Hope not the latter, pulling the wire may have compromised the connector, just FYI.

One should use a screw driver and pry on the lip and then push it out.

Used screwdriver to pry out lights. This now becomes a 2 part question after I noticed something.
Checked brown wire per your suggestion and it seems attached tightly to connector without a break.
1 bulb has a broken filament which will be replaced. The wires for bulb connectors are tight, seated properly and still no tach light.
Now for the speedo lights... I noticed when rheostat switch is turned up to full brightness with parking lights on, lights in speedo are correctly lit. When I turn headlights on, the outer speedo bulbs go very dim and only the odometer light remains consistently lit.
Think there is a short somewhere? I have limited electrical experience in tracing this kind of problem.
