Parts Car Shipping, DIY Transport Co.?
Hi, a few questions on shipping:
Anyone used DIY transport ? I'm shipping a non-rolling parts car 1,250 miles. How much is reasonable to pay ? The DIY people keep upping the price, we started at $800 and now they're saying $1,500. Thoughts, experiences, recommendations? Thanks! |

Usually depends on mileage. Most add for non-op. Where is car being p/u'd and delivered to?

Car transport can be a nightmare. Problem is brokers sell the transport then hand off responsibility for the transport to an independent driver. So once a sale is made, the broker takes their payment and their responsibility is done---so they could care less about a given car. The broker just wants to sell the next transport.
On the actual shipping side, it's not unusual for driver's to call a car owner just ahead of delivery and advise the shipment will cost an extra $100... cash. Difficult not to cough up the extra money given the situation. I hate to say it but the process of shipping a car sucks for many customers. To find a broker that actually has driver relations and cares about WTF is going on throughout the shipment... that's RARE. The last car I shipped was from Alaska to Miami. I don't have who I used on hand but can find them if you want. The broker updated me regularly and the independent driver eventually contacted me to tell me where he was during the continental crossing. If you want the company and who to talk to, PM me and I will dig it up. I'll add they were also the most reasonable $-wise.

Transporting a slider is always an issue. but look at from a shippers point of view
How to load? How to unload? how to move it on the trailer to accommodate your changing load It's kind of got to be first on last off Go get it yourself
