What tires you run on your 911 sc?

I have to get new ones, and the ones have, Dunlop Sp 2000 are no longer in production. Im looking for a good summer tire with great grip, soft feel, etc. Im in south florida and don't drive in bad weather.

Thanks,

Mike

I tried out Dunlop Direzza ZII... grips like glue! Love them so far, but they say they don't work well below 40 degrees. I don't drive it much during the winter though anyway.

Running Continental ControlContact Sport AS here in Denver and really like them. Priced well and quiet; with a decent 50,000 mile warranty. Tim

Wheel size is important here...

From my research and others opinions on here with our cars-

Best for:

Extreme Performance, Dry Handling-
Bridgestone Potenza RE-11 ($543)
Dunlop Direzza ZII Star Spec ($561)
Toyo Proxies R1R ($548)

All Around Performer, Summer- Michellin Pilot Sport A/S3- Great wet & dry and comfort (but more expensive with lower Treadwear) ($497)

Comfort- Continental ExtremeContact DW- Good treadlife and decent Wet & Dry. But the softer tire that brings comfort does flex more when pushing it hard. ($390)

Best Value- Kuhmo Ecsta 4XII- Great price. Good in wet, dry, snow, comfort & treadwear ratings ($225)

I'm running the Michelin Pilot Sports on my car 76C3 the past four years they are great all rounders for spirited road driving.
The only real limitation with them is they are just ok, not great on the track. I just have to drive within their limits.
I have done about 25000 miles still tons of tread left.
Cheers
Bill

as the stig indicated, wheel size is crucial here -- all of the options listed above are nice, but are (to the best of my knowledge) only available in sizes that fit on 16" wheels -- options on 15" wheels are few & far between.

I'm happy with the balance my continental extremecontact DW tires provide

Potenza RE. Here's manufactures description:

The Potenza RE-11 is an Extreme Performance Summer tire developed for enthusiastic sports car, sports coupe and performance sedan drivers. The Potenza RE-11 is designed to combine traction, handling and driving control with good noise and ride comfort. The Potenza RE-11 is tuned for dry and wet conditions, but like all Extreme Performance Summer tires, these tires are not intended to be serviced, stored nor driven in near- and below-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

The Potenza RE-11 is the first Potenza street tire to incorporate Bridgestone's 3D Seamless Stealth technology originally introduced in their Formula 1 and GP2 racing tires. The Potenza RE-11 features an asymmetric tread pattern that combines massive outboard independent shoulder blocks interlocked with a notched circumferential intermediate rib that provides the lateral stiffness needed to enhance steering response and increase dry cornering traction. Inboard, a continuous intermediate rib and notched shoulder rib are separated by wide, straight circumferential grooves that provide water evacuation to resist hydroplaning and enhance wet traction.

The tire's internal structure features a custom designed asymmetric shape that helps distribute footprint pressure more evenly by keeping the straighter outboard sidewall from "falling down" while helping the more rounded inboard sidewall resist "falling away" during aggressive cornering. Two wide steel belts reinforced by spirally wound nylon provide strength, uniform ride quality and high-speed capability.

I'm running 17" Fikse wheels. 8" wide front, 9" wide rear. Michelin Pilot Super Sports. 225/45-17 front and 245/40-17 rear.

They have been terrific for "enthusiastic" street driving. (Haven't really pushed them in sub 40 degree weather) Great grip, responsive. Comfortable, especially after taking 7 year old RE-050 Pole Positions off. I don't know how they would be on the track but friends who have experience with them on the track have liked them. I think the RE-11s would be better on the track.

Bridgestone R-11A s, 205x55x16 F, 225x50 R, 6''&7" Fuchs, '81 SC. Really like these tires. I bought them for the stick because I autoX, but they turned out to be really good all-rounders - quiet and smooth - and they work quite well on long tours over a lot of different roads. At speed they stick as anticipated and they transition smoothly as well, but I do not trust them in the wet (tread depth is minimal) nor do I expect a long life.

I run Continental Extreme DW 205/55/16 front and 225/50/16 rear. Pretty happy with them. Wanted a 245 in rear but very limited choices.

Has any one tried the Michelin Pilot sport Exalto PE2 tires? I see they are listed as original equipment for Porsche by Michelin and the do come in the correct 205/55vr16 and 225/50vr16 size.

I have them and like them a lot. Plenty of grip, quite predictable, and not at all harsh.
