Here's mine . . . 10" puller with curved blades (straight blades would be a better choice, butt I used this as I already had it around). It is powered by a fused relay which is wired to the positive lug on the starter and triggered by the compressor clutch (same relay I'm using for my fender condenser fan). Next step will be to temperature activate it like Dave M. and Wild West have done.

It seems to help shorten initial cool down time, but the difference was not jaw dropping or anything.

I wrote a few posts about it with pictures and some pressure data toward end of thread.

I "WWested" my 84's a/c system

Good luck,
Dave

Engine fan airflow is blocked from entering cabin heat airflow duct. Holes drilled in back of duct provide inlet airflow when cabin heat blower is powered. Trinary switch fan control contacts are wired, bridged, into engine overheat sensor. Cabin heat blower turns on automatically when third element of pressure switch indicates high side pressure is above setpoint.

Trinary pressure switch fan/(louver) control element closes at 215 PSI, opens at 165 PSI

Engine idle, 800 RPM, condenser airflow is 175 CFM.

Airflow at idle and cabin heat blower powered, 315 CFM.

I mounted it on the grill. Didn't work well. Fan running pulling those bolts

Rawknees'Turbo, DaveMcKenz,
I have hard time finding place to mount it. There is no room underneath the condenser. My condenser itself is scraping on the engine fan housing. On top of the condenser, there are engine lid's frames. The only way I can mount a fan is that it need to be super small, smaller than the width of the condenser.

wwest, I still don't get it yet. I'll come down to look at my engine and think about what you said.

Thanks.

You are correct. Rawknee's fan is on a turbo and has different condenser and space needs. On a standard 3.2 tail you will need a smaller fan than the width of the condenser. I used 8" fans. I haven't measured the condenser, but I would guess it's 12" high, so it's not ideal. I would not consider a fan shroud since that may block cooling air to engine. The 8" fans do decrease high side pressures when engaged, and mine are controlled by a thermostatic add-on switch, 140 degrees F turn-on, 130 turn-off. Also I have not noticed engine overheating problems, in my limited exposure in Illinois.
Good luck,
Dave

Wow, those are nice numbers How is it in keep the engine cool?

Improved...? No engine fan airflow is diverted to the cabin heat ducting.

BIG benefit, cabin heating airflow doesn't vary with engine RPM.
