Big Shipping box...

After installing the engine/transmission we found the car to be in 1st gear. I went to attach the coupler to the shaft and could not find the conical screw, so I ordered a new one from PP.
That big box came in yesterday and I could not resist the urge to have my lovely assistant (AKA spousal unit) to film the grand opening...

Sure enough I found my original conical screw just after installing the new one...

Haha ya I had a few surprisingly big boxes show up for something small. But that's ok because I recycle them by shipping parts I sell to other Pelicans.

Like myself, they probably buy boxes in bulk and stock a set assortment of sizes. Below a certain size the shipping rate doesn't go down anymore, so from an efficiency standpoint a box like that makes most sense because you have a wide variety of things that can fit in it. I don't go under a 6x6x6 with my business even though a number of things I sell are much much smaller than that.

The darn conical screw was about 12 inches from my head, on the rear seat - driver side - inside the coupler cover and the 4 retaining screws... LOL

Don't forget, you can only hire someone but that doesn't guarantee that they have common sense. It also works the opposite direction too. Like a heavy fragile item with little to no packing materials around it....or stuff a 30 lbs into a small box and expect NO damages / knick to the items..

It's when they ship you 50 pounds of stuff in a 25 pound box that you have to wonder and worry.

Zippy_99 has a good point that I hope Wayne at PP notices. I think I have one better:

I ordered that thick aluminum oil sump cover that showed two oil sump gaskets, among other things, included. The gaskets were missing and I called them. They nicely responded that they'd ship two out immediately, which they did. Those two flat gaskets arrived in the same size box as did Zippy_99's screw and by UPS. Now my question is why couldn't they slip Zippy's and my items in a padded envelope and ship by USPS??!!

We've had several posts by Wayne about shipping costs. Ordering boxes in bulk or not, I'll bet the cost of shipping a box by UPS was twice to three time that of using an envelope. Driving up one's own costs like that is a "foot-shot" and drives me nuts!! Or it's unnecessary costs they pass on us!

My box came via USPS, and the shipping stamp on it was around $3,41...
It would have made sense to me to see that screw in a small padded envelope.
Also I think I have enough PP stickers to last me for the next 10 years...
