Homemade floor boards

here are the homemade floor boards I made. I got some scrap aluminum for free and used the old broken wooden ones to make templates. Then I cut these with a jigsaw and bent the drivers side one. They don't look concours by any means, but FREE and I made them, so I am happy

Shawn,

Good work! I have been thinking about doing the same thing. What thickness did you use?

Thumbs up

Well-done mate!

I had mine made in 4mm plate. The only reason I didn’t make mine was that I couldn’t bent the plate.

Nice work ... you saved around $130US.

Thanks guys, I am happy with them and they are WAY better than the wooden ones that were half there. Jim I wish I had a "host of talents" but I guess I am learning, just wish I had the $ to finance my projects....paint, new seals, etc......

Paul they are .068 inches thick or 1.74mm. I used a digital micrometer to get those readings. Sounds thin but they are strong. Only half as thick as Targa4me but they seem strong enough. If not I will make thicker ones

I looked at the 2mm but thought it flexed too easily. If your foot slips you may do some damage so Id recommend the 4mm.

Unhappy

Um, I'm embarrassed to say how much I spent to have them cut for me, although these are pretty strong.

Targa great advice, I will start scrounging some thicker aluminum, but I will use mine for now. I don't track the car so I don't drive it real hard.

Jack what thickness is yours made from?

Hey Jack,

That looks likes a fancy cheese grater. Any discount for all those holes?

Resurrecting this thread because I'm considering making a drivers side. Shawn, did you find the .068 thick enough or did you run into problems? I'd like to get buy with .068 as I can bend this guage. Any thicker and I will probably have trouble bending.
