KC Pelicans/Das Auto Werk
Hi, I'm looking for a shop to do some work on my car, and I was wondering if anybody had any experience with Das Auto Werk, out of Kansas City. If I understand it correctly, this apparently used to be JP Werks. It's owned by a man named Mark Journey. My location forces me to look in KC, Tulsa, or Springfield, MO (they're all about 2 hours away). So far, the only recommendation I've heard is Rennsport in Tulsa. I'm just exploring my options. Thanks for your help.

You can check out BHR (Bob Hindson Racing) in KC. They did the engine/trans on a car I now own. Many people I spoke to speak highly of them, so far I have a neutral experience, which I suppose is good!

Mark Journey/Das Auto/JP Werks in Merriam Kansas
This shop is a scam. Mark will take your money up front and your car will sit and you will never see your money again. It took me six months to get my car back after Mark collected $5,000 and then stopped returning phone calls. When I caught him at the shop 6 months later there were beer cans everywhere including spilled on the hood of my car. I found out from the supplier that he never ordered parts. I had my car removed immediately. The JOCO DA has been worthless and six months later I still haven't seen any money.
Stay away from this shop!!!!! I still need a harness installed for my 911sc if anyone knows a reputable shop in the KC area. Bob Hindson Racing won't do it because its too much shop time. Not sure where else to go for a full wiring harness. |

I would like Bob Hindson to do the work since they have done most of the service on the car but Aaron is getting picky and does not want to do the work. I was offended since I have spent over $10 grand on my car there but that's the deal. No BHR.
Sixbanger - have you every used KH for service? |

Sorry, calling bs. I know these guys VERY well and does NOT sound typical. Also, I have used KH as well as RennsportKC. I would HIGHLY recommend Aaron at BHR but if you can't work with him(?), then Karl or Wes at RennsportKC would be my second choice. Both shops primarily work on Pcars. Kevin at KH works on several marques (not a bad thing by any means). All 3 shops are honest and reputable.

If you have ever been to Kevin shop you will see he is highly qualified as a Porsche service center.
If you want a Porsche guru then give Jim Condiff a call at 913-441-8572 he's a five state PORSCHE GURU and has the GOLD Porsche ring to prove it. |

nvr2mny - Since you called me a liar on public forum why don't ask Aaron how many months the black 1978 911SC was sitting in his shop before he asked me to pick it up again.
I dropped my car off with Aaron at BHR over six months ago. They were supposed to start working on it last October and they "never got around to it". A few weeks ago Aaron told me he did not want to do the work - after holding my car for six months. He thought it would take him 30+ hours and he told me he prefers doing engine rebuilds. He would also NOT recommend any other mechanics in the KC area so I am a little lost on what to do. I agree this is not normal for BHR but that is what happened. Ask Aaron yourself or don't call me a liar. Everyone else - Thank you very much for the suggestions. Hoping to secure a good mechanic this week and get my car running again. |

Whoa mr911, settle down there big guy. Liar is your word, not mine. We all know there's 2 sides to every story. You are presenting yours, and now Aaron's. I've worked with Aaron for the past 6 years on a number of our cars and your experience does not match up with mine. I've seen your car there. It's going to take ALOT of work. That's not the issue, as some of my cars too need ALOT of work. You asked for recommendations for a specific as well as other shops in the KC area. I merely presented my opinion of what you requested. You've been duly warned of the shop you mentioned, and NOT by me. I have extensive dealings with BHR, RennsportKC and KH. The others, no. I can tell you with certainty that all 3 I've mentioned here, for me at least, have proven to be exceptional in their work and ethics. That's all. I do hope you get things resolved and eventually get your car fixed and back on the road. Best of luck to you.

Sorry nvr2mny - you called BS - Meaning I was not telling the truth. I am a little on edge after having my car sit for a year and losing money.
Aaron at BHR would not recommend another shop in the KC area and I was worried I would be parting out my car or trying to find a shop out of state. It sounds like there are some other decent shops in town which is very good news. Thank you all for the suggestions. |
