No difference noted, I am on a cable modem. It can't get much faster anyway- a click, no waiting, and I am there.

Still seeing up to 10-12 seconds before a page is served.
I'm on cable, on the right coast. The packets may be routed via Turkmenistan. Guess its a measure of our dedication to the Bird that this kind of response is fine anyway. Exploder 6.0.2800 - no refresh issues. |
Sorry, but I can't tell any difference and I'm on a regular modem (using AOL 6.0).

Hi Wayje,
Yes, I see a big difference in the download times, and I'm on dial-up!! Keep up the good work. I feel like I'm on high speed now. thanks, |
Better
Not lightning (as said above) ...but improved !
Mucho Gracias, Amigo! |
I can see a marked improvement in the amount of time it takes a page to display. And take back one vote for problems with IE, I was incorrect.
I'm actually quite happy, because I had always thought it seemed a little slow when going page to page. I had been on other sites run with the same software that loaded considerably faster, but now that isn't so. Isn't it a great feeling to find something like that to make an improvement! 1.5 Mb DSL |
I'm using a cable modem and already thought your server responded quicker than most sites I get to.
|
Wayne I use a cable modem it's way fast, and I noticed no significant difference. Thanks for helping out the others with snail connections. I use Netscape 7.0
|
Cool - I'm glad this didn't blow things up. Someone out there always seems to have a problem when I do an upgrade like this...

I didnt really notice a difference, Im using cable modem...so that dosent help me determine a difference.
|
56K dial-up here.
Main page loads much quicker than before. But, I did dump VirusScan 6.0 recently. That could be helping too! IE 6.0.2800.1106 here. |
This is what shows up on refresh (IE5.5)
= -1){end = document.cookie.length;} returnvalue=unescape(document.cookie.substring(off set, end)); } } return returnvalue; } function loadornot(){ if (get_cookie('popunder')=='') {loadpopunder(); var today = new Date(); var expire = new Date(); expire.setTime(today.getTime() + 86400000); document.cookie = "popunder=yes" + ";expires="+expire.toGMTString(); } } function loadpopunder(){ win2=window.open(popunder); //win2.blur; window.focus(); } loadornot(); When I opened a new IE window, this was left at the top: t("Your message is "+theform.message.value.length+" characters long."+message); } //--> Speed enhancement is very noticeable. |
speed
i'm on cable and i think it's been slower recently
|
Not cable modem fast but it is alot better. No problems here.
|
WOW, so this is what a Turbo is like.
I do see a BIG difference. BEEP BEEP, ZIP, BANG! |
Very quick! Every second counts with 56K!:(
|
Seems about the same w/ IE 6.0. I'm getting the refresh problem though.
|
So what did you do - install something like mod_gzip?
|
It's much faster. I use a cable modem. I can really tell the difference in the time to run a "Search". That was one area I distinctly remember as being slow.
|
ISDN in England. I can see a huge improvement!!!!! Thanks Wayne!!!!
