Refine the poll?

Hey Wayne, you might want to refine the poll to include which type of browser people are using... perhaps it's very fast for us IE guys with that slight problem on refresh and not so fast for Netscape users. Just a thought. Kim.

i got so tired of buying modems, i get to log on at 14400.

my vote doesn't count.

ronb 12-19-2002 02:27 PM

somewhat faster than before, not lightening speed. logging on via satellite, approx the same speed as a 256 dsl line.

...Plus latency....

rvanderpyl 12-19-2002 02:33 PM

I'm not going to vote as I only have a 28800 connection so any speed difference is probably only perception, or a subliminal suggestion that it should be faster therefore it is.

EDIT

OK after more browsing there is defintely a noticable speed increase when opening and changing pages on messages, not so much when going back to the message list.

Cable modem. Very fast already. Hope it helps the less fortunate though.

Im on adsl there does seem to be an improvement,
but I never had a problem with speed as it was.

rfix'n 12-19-2002 02:49 PM

T-1 no difference. Will check out from home tonight on my dial up.

JDaniel 12-19-2002 02:53 PM

No difference for me... I'm on cable. SmileWavy Have a nice day.

Dantilla 12-19-2002 02:56 PM

Lemme click around a while and I'll get back to you.

masraum 12-19-2002 03:01 PM

Our proxy server sucks, I'll check when I get home, first thing...

tobluforu 12-19-2002 03:11 PM

T-1 with port fast. No difference

walt 12-19-2002 03:11 PM

Somewhat faster at 56K, but not exactly lightning.

ischmitz 12-19-2002 03:15 PM

At work (big fat pipe) it seems like there is some latency related to DNS resolution. Overall speed has not improved noticable today from my observation.

I have seen other boards having much more trouble to complete e.g. searches. PP always felt fast compared to others.

Getting back to you.

Yup! Faster.

Back to clicking around now.....

Thunderbolt 12-19-2002 03:24 PM

T-1, no differance

Groesbeck Hurricane 12-19-2002 03:38 PM

Wayne,

It seems faster than I remember last year, but I dial up at 44K with a modem off Cat 3 lines. I'm already pegging what the redline will give. Maybe next year when we get broadband...

Wayne 962 12-19-2002 03:39 PM

Actually, I increased the compression on the files, so the speed should be most noticeable with the modem users. Should be almost 8-9X faster over a modem with the new compression installed.

Wayne,

T-1 at work and cable at home. It was always pretty fast for me, no noticable difference.

BTW: IE 6.0, have not noticed refresh issues.
