WANTED: Comprehensive Engine build file

Does anyone have a comprehensive xls file that highlights all the various parts required for each step of an engine build?

I am embarking on a ground up engine build and will start preparing such a file (more for my own learning purposes) - but dont want to re-invent the wheel if someone has already gone down the same path, and would be willing to share...

Thanks.

Try Wayne's engine rebuild book. It's as good as it gets.

+1 on Wayne's book; however, his book doesn't particularly cater to those of us with cars newer than 1985.

I also extensively use the Bentley manual, plus countless sources on this forum as well as other web resources.

I am just finishing up my tear down and rebuild and have a spreadsheet, but I certainly wouldn't call it complete.

I do recall a few spreadsheets on the forum as well...search is your friend.

I am in the middle of a rebuild right now. Wayne's book is excellent, but the perfect complement to the book would be a checklist that one could tick off, complete with torque values, etc. A little too late to do with my build, but something I might try to put together if/when I do this again.

Each motor rebuild is going to require a different list of parts. Wayne covers the ones that are common to all, but your mileage will vary.

Bruce Anderson's Porsche 911 Performance Handbook has an Engine Builder's Checklist.

Wayne's book was good overall...that said, I found it WAY too wordy.

I agree. check out Peter Morgans site, great videos of Nick Fulljames here rebuilding is engine. not step by step but some good insight on an early car.

This.

I read through Waynes book and made my own checklist that applied to the 3.2 engine and the parts and sealants I was using. It saved time flipping around in the book for specs and torques, and also familiarized me with the process so i was unlikely to accidentally skip a step (easy to do when skipping over parts of the book that may not apply to your engine).

Did you do the checklist in digital format? Care to share for reuse?
