Maximum ride height for RSR struts?

I raised the front ride height about 3/4" this past weekend and now the front suspension seems to be working a lot better. The front ride height is now (factory method) 145mm. The fender is 24.5" off the ground now. Note that I have 225/50-15 front tires which have a radius 1/2" smaller than the common 205/55-16 front tire. Therefore my front fender height is equivalent to 25" correcting for the tire size. I'm happy with the appearance and the additional up travel at this height.

So, my question is: should I get raised spindle "RSR" style front struts, or just the standard ones? Am I too high for RSRs? Am I too low for standard length struts?

No BTDTs, huh?

A non-Pelican vendor suggested that 24.5" was the crossover point, below which RSR struts were required. I assume he meant 24.5" with larger wheels and tires, though, so I might be just high enough to get away with standard struts and cut bump stops.

The shift of the stub axle on the RSR strut was exactly 18 mm, so you can use that amount in any calculations of ride height. The adjustment range became 126 mm +/- 5 mm when using the RSR struts.

Un-educated input. Can't give you #'s. What you want to find is a pair of Bilstein safari struts.
They change the location of the bottom mounts. To give more lift. If you can't find a pair. Steve at Rennsport Systems could build you a set from a pair of Bilstein struts. And revalve them to your needs.
You might already know this. But I thought I'd throw it in.

Cary, while I may play in the dirt in other cars, the 911 is strictly for tarmac use. I think Safari spec struts with more lift would be great for a rally 911, but my front suspension is about 1.5-2" lower than stock and I want to keep it that way!

There is another variable here: the actual length of the damper insert. I've read that the Bilstein Sports are designed for a lower, shorter travel suspension than the standard or HD dampers. So, if you have an RSR strut with a Sport insert, it may be lower still.

Maybe Wayne, or someone who's seen HD and Sport Bilsteins for 911s side by side can clear this up and make a recommendation...
