Need some quick help! Brake caliper ?
I went to change my pads for an event coming up next week and ended up destroying a caliper trying to get the one pin out. A couple questions:
1. Where can I get a caliper new QUICKLY? I leave for the track Thursday afternoon. My last order with pelican took 2 weeks. 2. What is the proper way of removing the pins? Should they really be that difficult? One popped out easily, the other not so much (obvioisly).

Post your location you may get a local pelican with some spare parts.
I twist the pin to loosen it and then gentle tap with a point and hammer.

Good point. I'm in Metuchen NJ, 08840.
I think the retainer clip broke preventing the pin from sliding out. After hitting it the casting that hold the pin broke. So frustrated!!!

I just pulled my calipers off my 82 SC and would be happy to ship you one or two instead of sending them back to PMB for my core charge. They work just fine, I just want to help out if possible. PM me for detail.

I can't say I've had any problem driving the pins out, the retainer is not very robust. Probably a lot of corrosion between the bore and the pin. A bit of WD and some tapping to vibrate it into the bore would likely free up the next stubborn one. Hope everything turns out for your event. Cheers

I used a drift punch and a heavy hammer.
The pin tapped right out. ![]()

except I use a dead-blow hammer. It's a plastic clip holding the pin in the hole. Are you hitting the correct side (the back)? They should pop in and out very easily. If they don't, something is wrong. Front or rear? I'm guessing rear. What year car? The only help you'll get quick is from a local. Might try Rennlist as well. If you want a new one, and have time, PMB are the guys: PMB - Brake Page

The other 3 went well. What I said above about the pseudo cotter pin breaking off is what happened. I kept "tapping" with the drift but it looks like it slipped under the pin and put pressure on the casting which split. I'll post a pic later.
I need to find a caliper ASAP!
