This has gotta be one expensive part ...

I stopped by the local dealer yesterday for kicks and picked up the Porsche Tequipment 911 - Accessories for the 911 (Type 996) catelog. On page 19 is part number 000-044-100-12 which is the Carrera Powerkit. This kit includes "a new alloy induction manifold, cylinder heads, exhaust manifolds and camshafts, as well as revised engine management software." The claim is that this kit will increase model year 02 and newer hp from 320 to 345. Any ideas on what this "part" must cost? I might just have to call the dealer tomorrow to satisfy my curiosity.

Well, you should check out the price for the turbo equivalent. It's about $20,000.

How about NOS 935 drive axles? Anyone tried modifying 911 axles to use a guibo? Seems like it would make sense..

I see. Why did they use the u-joint style half shafts on the 935? was it because of all the HP?

Chris - you think HBL would honor our $100 PCA GC because that almost makes it affordable at $13,890

Porsche list price is $8502.23. Expensive, but when you consider all the parts involved - its not that bad a deal. The stinger is the labor!!
