Wire guide for H1s
I have fixed my H1s an am reinstalling. There are no plastic "plugs" like I'm used to, just loose wires with spade connectors.
My question, which wires attach to which of the tabs on the H1 three spade connection? To make matters worse, the wires are different in left and right buckets! The left (drivers side) has a brown wire, a blue wire and a yellow wire ( I think, I'm not at home). The right side has a brown wire and a striped wire and one I can't remember. What goes where? One has to be ground and the other two must be low beam and high beam, but which is which? Let's use 9:00/12:00/3:00 for the three positions. Thanks! ![]() The key here is to look closely at the wires going to the connectors, and note to which prongs they connect. The picture makes it difficult because the wires appear to be the same/similar color and the route to the connector is blocked by the black wrap. However, you can trace them on your own lights fairly easily. The wire with the round, ring lug on the end is the ground for the light bulbs. Follow it to the connector and note to which prong it is attached. That will be the prong your brown wire will connect. Note the length of the two remaining wires. The low beam bulb resides in the upper reflector, which is in the center of the assembly, furthest from the connector, so the wire that is the longest of the two and is the low beam wire. Follow that wire to the connector and that will be the prong that the yellow wire will connect. The remaining prong accepts the wire for the high beam which will be the blue wire, on the driver's side. For the passenger side, the brown wire is the ground, but I cannot identify the other two without knowing the colors until I research the diagrams. You can test yourself by using a test light, turn on the headlights to low beam and check which wire makes the test light glow. That will be the low beam wire, and the other will be the high beam.

Porsche liked to use white/blue (hi) and green/yellow (low) for some years for one side of the car and yellow and blue for the other side. They key being the yellow and blue markers for low and high beams.
For other years it was blue and yellow on both sides. What year is the car? '75? If so, they used the ones I mentioned.

Buy the plastic, bakelite or ceramic plug at any car parts store, the female spade connectors should fit inside, just push them from the backside . timmy2 gave you which cable is which.
