battery drainage

Hello I have a 1979 Porsche 911 SC and I need help figuring out what may be running my battery down. I thought it was the alternator but I disconnected it and I use a voltmeter to check it and it's not the alternator. any ideas what it might can be are a easier way to find what's running my battery down. any help is appreciated thank you very much.

This is correct with the assumption the OP knows how to do this.

On my 78, I am ashamed to say. I found my glovebox light would come on and I wouldn't notice it when driving and afterwards in the garage. Took the globe out and the battery lasts well now.

If the OP has power windows, another common source is a failed door switch for the dome light -- the power window circuit remains energized (and draws a bit of current) until the door is open. broken door switch leaves it energized indefinitely, will cause noticeable drain in a few days.
