Fast Idle question????

I just installed a 1979 SC motor in my 1975. Before installing I put on a new WUR and Aux air regulator. I also removed the AAV as suggested by some and plugged the hoses. Also installed new thermovalve as mine was missing. Now, the engine fires right up and idles at about 1100 rpms. From reading on this board it seems as though it should go to about 2000 for about a minute and then fall back to 1000. Heres the what puzzles me. Once the car is warmed up and driven and say I stop and run into the store, when I start the car it fast idles to 2000 and then drops to a 1000 after a minute or so. Seems like it is working backwards. How should the automatic fast idle work? Is it working backwards or any ideas would be appreciated. thanks for any help.

how cold is where your at, has the temp changed from where you bought the engine from...it was probably setup for a different climate. Vacuum leaks are sources of many problems with idle issues, if you can't chase them...also a pressure gauge to measure all the correct pressure from the WUR to the Fuel dist, will eliminate alot of guess work.
