Airbox Hose Question
Can someone tell me what this hose is for on the left side of an 83 SC airbox?

Yep it's from the charcoal tank on the right side fender. The tank traps vapors from the gas tank and dumps them back into the intake so they get sucked in and combusted. Over time the charcoal breaks down and the pellets end up in the airbox. Many times you'll find that hosed blocked off for that reason.

That's your brake booster line. The hose that runs to the charcoal canister is on the right side of the box.

the hose in question is before the throttle body and wouldn't have any vacuum. If your booster is connected to this, you aren't benefiting from power brakes.

Sorry about that. I stand corrected. Yes, the booster hose is below the throttle body.
Instead of having a hose like the one shown in the picture, the port on my air box is plugged. |
