Can '81-84 sport seats be used in an '85 Carrera?

I'm trying to increase my headroom a bit. Are the older 81-84 seats a bit lower, or is the difference between 84 and 85 seat height only in the rails? And will the older sport seat work? Is it a straight replacement, or is any modification required between the sliders and the seats? Thanks!

I think you will be just fine both are model Carrera, should have the same base rails.

I would measure the seat rails against the base mounts. Take a note of the rail positions, they are not even at the rears.

80-84 doesn't have seatbelt receptacle on sliders - they are floor mounted in those cars.
So when you say straight replacement Mclovin - are you swapping rails from the 85?
I'm interested in doing this myself

Easy fab job for seat belts swap. Def sit lower in the seat. I may have some cores avail for cheap if looking for manual sport seats?

You can't easily remove the rails from the '85 seats. You would probably buy an adapter from brey krause, or I believe there is a factory part, that is sandwiched between the rails and the seat that provides an inboard seat belt mounting point.

Edit: see BK R-9005 or this thread for factory part.
