Question Wevo shifter kit - early 915 base question

Slowly biting off one bit of a rebuild at a time means that various bits and pieces only get looked at well after the Santa Claus moment of the parts arriving.

In this case the Wevo shifter kit just got looked at and we realise that all the pictures on the web show it mounted in a 76 and up alloy base (part number ends 06) rather than the pressed steel one found on 72-75 cars like mine.

Wevo recommend the 06 mount over the 05 but say the 05 works.

Has anyone here had experience mounting a Wevo kit into the 05 style base and, if so, do you have any pointers or advice?

Thanks,
Mark

Hey Mark, did you ever get a response to this question? I am currently running into the same situation w/ my 1972 911. Any input/advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Sean

All 915 shift housings (73-86) are the same except for the front threaded pivot pin introduced around 1977 (I suppose the 06 housing mentioned). The WEVO conversion may require the threaded pin version to assemble their internals. Confirm with WEVO?

The 72 housing is unique, you need a 73 and up housing.

I just finished installing the WEVO shifter into my 911.424.019.05 base. After speaking with WEVO tech they advised to use a 1.2-1.5mm washer on the aft side of the housing and to stack washers/shims on the front side to shim the front float gap.

I ended up installing the aft washer and roll pin then used feeler gauges to determine the required shim thickness for the front roll pin. I used some 220 sand paper to get the shims just right and had no issues after install. I can post some pics when I get home. I also recommend using a bar clamp or c clamp to press the roll pins in so you can control the alignment.

Will the 73' and up bases (911.424.019.05 or 911.424.019.05) directly bolt up to my 72'?? Or will there have to be some fabrication work done to adapt in to my car?
