How much can a 7:31 r/p handle?

Can a 7:31 r/p on a 915 transmission handle the additional torque of a 3.0 with 20/21 cams and, possibly, a piston/cylinder increase to 3.2?

Thanks

the pinion head is smaller/weaker than the 8:31, so it has it's limits, but it should be able to handle those engines. tire burning starts and banging shifts are what kill them. you'll know when it goes.

It's like JW said, depends on usage and driving style, I've seen even the toughest parts shattered at the dragstrip sandwiched between massive traction and high HP and at the same time I've seen weak parts last seemingly forever by not being abused. I dare say this though, the lighter your car the less load on the r&p. My 7:32 r&p in my 901/911 gearbox is doing just fine behind a 3.0 in my 2000 or so pound car even with my aggressive driving style which I'm sure will break it sooner or later, last time out before winter I noticed my clutch was starting to give out if that's any indication as to how rough I can be to a driveline.
