Just purchased R12 on EBAY

Just as an FYI, recently bought three 12oz cans on ebay for $103 plus $10 shipping.

It is legal to purchase real R12 refrigerant. (R-12 will not give you meat locker temps in a stock system. It will deliver an increase in efficiency but not a step change vs properly changed out and installed R-134A)

The catch is you have to have a Mobile Air Conditioning Society 609 certificate OR buy it only to re-sell.

I took the online (open-book) MACS test back in the 90's to get the certificate. I paid around $20 back then. Maybe still $20? Section 609 Main

Mind you, the EBAY seller stated that buy buying the R12 you swear on a stack of bibles that you have the EPA Section 609 certificate or that you are going to resell. I had to produce nothing to purchase. Historically, I have had to produce the certificate. Just put that in your hip pocket.

I got my certificate 8/20/2001 for use in the '85 Carrera and the '88 Volvo.
Don't forget to pick up a can of the oil recharge... I suspect it gets depleted over the years...
Waiting for winter to get more R12 when I figure the demand will be less.

I love R12 folks. They're my kind of people.

Thanks for the post.

I checked winter prices for R-12. Still pretty dear.

You can buy 30 lbs of R-12 for $900-ish. DuPont Igloo. $25 per 12 oz can doing the math.

Only posting this for a data point. You can buy 30lb tanks of R134 for $80. Take the remaining $820 and buy a Griffith's goodie or two.

I stocked up on R12 about 15yrs ago. Bought 30lb tank for $200 and already had a 12 can case of 12oz cans on hand. Last week I was at a local flea mkt and scored 10 12oz cans for $60. So now with 30lb tank and 22 cans, I think I'm good for the foreseeable
future. LOL
Pre ban, I used to buy a 12 can case from Costco for $15. Ah the good old days!

What year? Jeebus!

I remember Costco in Anchorage was about $175 in 1989-1991 for a 30lb tank of R-12. I had no idea what I was looking at.

You are such an Ultra Douche.

Did you know, back when your dad could have chosen a wide array of wimmins to launch his seed into, they made toys that used the $0.78 per can R-12 cans for propellant.

He chose the straight and narrow and created you.

The choices made by a good man....................

Eff me a runnin'. Drive my ass to Beaumont. Whatever the catch phrase is, eewwwww. Rawknees was created.
