Want my advice/ GO find the owner. That vehicle recently changed hands, on a charity auction, and you ought to be able to call the former seller and explain nicely what it is you want to do, and see if he can't talk the original buyer into having the paint on his car spectrumized for color matching. It's a contactless procedure, nobody has to touch the car, it's just like taking a picture.
It would take maybe 3 minutes of everyone's time, honest. AND we wouldn't have to read Ronnie and Bob's love-fest. |
Mick, Bobs close to a solution. A love that strong, no one can ruin.
More of a love-hate relationship. Tim |
Car paint code 615-9-2 = Slate Gray - Porsche - Glasurit
615 was a 63-64 color. There is no reference of 615 with respect to Glasurit. Question may be, what kind of paint did they shoot 356's with? May have been Lesonal (#1 suffix) or Heberts (#3 suffix). Porsche only used three paint brands. They painted the 615 color on McQueens Turbo with Glasurit 14 years later. Maybe this is why there is no 615 Glasso reference as it was never a standard issue code. That said, RM has a single stage with hardener line called UNO and the BASF jobber in Akron had to call the brain trust center. UNO is a decent budget paint and RM offers the same single stage in two superior brands. The brain center faxed the 615 1963/64 UNO blend. Way different than the 1967-68 6801 blend using the same UNO paint. See spreadsheet. Note percentages (both are for one pint - the units of measure are obviously different). Note three yellows in 615. Note RM "Effect on Pitch" http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1470681198.jpg Here's the tinting pdf. https://www.coatingsmall.com/cap_data_docs/documentum/Color/RM%20English%20base%20characteristics%20UNO.pdf I can get 1/2 pint mixed for $25.:) |
Bob, you cracked a code that many have failed, and for that, you will get a "prize"....Thank you for your time, effort and paint knowledge and expertise. Please send me your PayPal so I can get you money for paint... Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Tim

The guy in the paint and bodywork forum who referenced the RM UNO difference between the 615 and 6801 nailed it but the pics of the blends were not readable. Had to take me a ride to help a bro. Here's a screenshot of the RM slate grays for Porsche. No way can you tell a color difference. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1470683417.jpg |
Only thing I see odd is the 44.7 Units of Booster are the same number in both. Coincidence?
I have the print outs of the colors from the jobber if you want them now. But maybe a look see at how it appears is the ticket vs more numbers. |
