Glasurit-DuPont
I'm trying to decode slate grey (non-metallic) glasurit code 615-9-2 (McQueens 930)to DuPont. Seems almost impossible. I'm starting to think the only way is to somehow get some glasurit and paint something and have them use a color detecting camera? I've spent hours researching to no avail. I didn't post in paint and bodywork forum because it's been thrown around without any answers many times before.
Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks, Tim |
Tim that is surprising that paint and bodywork couldn't come through for you. If it were me I'd PM
962porsche an ask for help. He is incredible with his knowledge of paints. Good luck. |
I've been promising Tim I will call the Akron Glasurit dealer about the number.
I'll do it in the morning, Tim. My apologies. If I don't, text me or ping me here. Getting old. |
DuPont code for the Slate Gray that Porsche used from 1969 is 8361L or 29003. See link below

I thought 80 was the new 40!!! |
Bob, thanks for looking into it for me.
Mick, I got a sample of what you suggested and it appears more of a charcoal without the greenish hue that I'm looking for. Have you ever seen a car painted in this color? Ronnie, be nice to senior citizens..... Tim |
Tim,
Rest assured that whenever Bob needs a new cane, I'm the first to pitch in a few bones! |

These are the three links to cars painted in that color from the page I linked you to earlier. I think it looks about right.

I should point out that this color really looks like a different color under different lighting conditions, as the pics in the links above show.

Good luck i tried to get 3 differant paint stores to mix me slate grey and none of the codes worked right. I ended up with a bunch of 1 qt paint colors samples and finally just picked one. It was fine since i was only painting bumpers on a two tone car.

How about them?;)

They all have way more green than what I've had mixed. That's what I want. What Ive had mixed twice is almost charcoal. Tim

THat bottom pic doesn't have much green in it if you ask me.
|
Ron, I'd kill myself....Its gonna look just like a turbo that's been neutered. Although it is a 75 with a rebuilt 3.2, so it should go a little...
Mick, I think it's the shadows in that bottom pic. Tim |
