I think a touch more clam would bring the pitch in just right.

That keystone packs a punch.....Bet he won't ask her to go for a beer run again...Tim

Photo indicates less than adequate drainage from evaporator core most likely exacerbated by squirrel droppings or nesting debris present.

See Karl for clam additive, Sugar Scoops!

*** PS - we're definitely hell-bound, my friend!

Tim, that's what happens when the honeys complain about Bob's drinking and dining choices!

I'm sending sugar scoops some owafix gloves so he doesn't catch anything from the Akron dollies he dabbles in. I don't want him getting sick before finishing his special assignment. Tim

Rawknees'Turbo 08-11-2016 06:55 PM

Tim, fret not about Sugar Scoops catching anything from the Akron dollies; dude's systems are well insulated from intrusion via his Stones & D'nutz Only diet!!!

Got the paint on a plate of metal.

It looks close to this car which was painted with Glasurit 615.

You can see some green but as Tim says it's gray with green.

This recent Mecum auction proudly shows green with gray in their spiffy lights (see below). At 4:49 in, as the car moves off the stage it changes to gray. Cool color. Paint jobber in Akronsays it looks like a lighter color and pulled out three, one inch thick cards of green.

Here is the 615 mix from Thurs and the color choice from today (cards). Today's color turns gray out of the sun. A lighter gray though.

Here is the auction color.

To Mick - I did see the previous owner talking about the car in a youtube vid and he owns a restoration shop and mentioned the name of the shop. Gonna call him on Monday and roll the dice. Good idea. I am sure they resprayed it. The guy incorrectly states all McQ's 911's were painted with the same color but they were not. All slate gray, though.

Qualification, all of the pics and vids are taken with different cameras and are watched on different monitors. My Gateway monitor shows much darker than my IPhone on the Mecum video.

Good work, Bob.You may also consider the color of the primer, which could change the look of the topcoat color, right?

Not according to the guy that's going to be painting it. He says there's going to be so much paint on there the color of primer won't matter. Tim

Mick_D 08-13-2016 02:29 PM

I guess he's gonna make it thick;)

timchar 08-13-2016 03:42 PM

Ronnie, do you mind going on a little road trip to Ohio, sugar scoops and I need a tuuuurbooo as a test car to see if it passes the trial paint test. Give ya gas money and all the Keystones you can power down. Sound good? Tim

Rawknees'Turbo 08-13-2016 04:34 PM

Would do, butt Bob's Targuhhhhh would put itself into a permanent fetal position if it got sight of the Mighty Turbo! Not to mention that at around 11-12 highway MPG, dats' a lotta gas money - youse two goons might need to pimp yerselves out even more in order to cover the cost of travel!!!

timchar 08-13-2016 05:07 PM

Bobs Targa is blind so it won't know that big daddy turbo is there (sugar scoops crunched)...Tim

timchar 08-13-2016 08:47 PM

^^^^ Huh??

Tim, that's one of those spambot things trying to insert a link to some BS webpage - they copy and paste lines of text that already exist in the thread. I just reported it.

On the sight impaired Targa of Bob's - wouldn't matter, because his car would "feel" the Turbo awesomesauce as I approached and would curl up into a ball, sucking its wounded thumb in terror!!!

Mick_D 08-15-2016 09:38 AM

I'm pretty sure McQueen himself never worried at this level. He'd call and say 'Gimme another gray one! And don't f*ck it up ! And I want a killswitch for the lights! And an ice chest for my beer! And some beer!'

Mick, I am (was) assuming that the gray color, being "opaque", will eclipse the primer.

However, on this second round, I am using a decent grade light gray primer, not two stage, but much higher quality than a $6 rattle can.

It may make a difference. It's also the color primer Tim has. The first pass was with black primer.

I have my wild ass guess paint and the fresh batch of 615 to spray on my crippled 911.

I a getting pumped. I had an issue with a Lexus HID headlight that ate my day so poor Tim will have to suffer until tomorrow afternoon if all goes well.

Don't tell him I said this. Maybe he will forget I said I would have it done today.

Brother Bob, no need to share private, personal and salacious information like this with the group (not that there's anything wrong with that, butt still)!
