Bumper ideas before and after

Once I pay for the house I just bought it's gonna be FG bumper time.
Using the SCRS and the ClubSport prototype as my models I mocked up a before and after

What do y'all prefer? I love the idea of weight loss and polar moment and all that -- but the balance the factory always brought is often lost with modifications to performance or the look.

Do a search... there are 100s of pages on this subject.

FG bumpers have zero impact protection in the parking game.

Tcar - yup. Read all those threads and definitely will have to weigh my almost daily driver-ness against the lightened mod fun

And I am curious or pelican opinions as much in the looks as the feasibility in a city like Toronto

How often do you hit things in your current driver? How often do things hit your current driver in the bumper? I don't think you need to worry a lot about it if you aren't accident-prone

I prefer the impact bumper look, not from a purists' standpoint (that is the last thing that I am), but because the impact bumpers, complete with double D teets, look so 1980's, as does the rest of the car (work well together, in other words). To me, the 2nd pic is a big step backwards in regard to looks.

I really like the impact bumper look, but when it came time to paint and restore, it cost me less to buy new IROC bumpers than it would have to paint both bumpers and replace all the rubber parts for both , plus probably a new valance up front. And besides I like the IROC look, and now I have a handy-dandy center vent too. I think I saved a lot of weight as well.

I took mine off after 15 years and really like the look.
What did you use to fill the holes?

I was tapped on the rear end by an SUV. Thanks to my IB, I got a tiny dent and a cracked reflector. $2.3K for the other guy's insurance. But nothing appreciable for the body and mechanicals. I suspect without an IB it could have resulted in real damage.

Are there any IROC-style fiberglass bumper covers that will fit over the OE impact beams and shocks?
