G50 clutch chatter engaging 1st gear

Rebuilt engine installed with new KEP Lite pressure plate (weighs less than stock but similar clamping force), KEP organic clutch disc (spring hub, essentially stock replacement) and resurfaced flywheel.

On a cold engine it engages nice and smooth, but after a few miles I sometimes get fairly bad chatter. Currently have about 850 miles, mixed driving on the new disc. Bled the clutch master just to be sure, no change.

It's quite annoying sometimes, engaging 1st sometimes shakes the entire car enough I'm surprised it doesent pop out of gear. I can slip the clutch excessively and it smooths out a bit, but seems excessive.

Any other people experience this after moving to a spring centered hub or running a lightened assembly ? Clutch felt great with the rubber disc that was removed. Was hoping it just needed to break in but after 800 miles it hasn't gotten much better. Maybe bad flywheel? I know the manuak says don't resurface but my wrench has done many of these and so have I on other cars that say not too.

Maybe you need a different heavy duty clutch with the new higher output motor?

Oil on that disc? Did you change out the rear main seal at the same time? If so, maybe the new one's no good...

I'd be suspicious of the resurfaced flywheel. Check the runout if you have to take it apart again. I quit using resurfaced units years ago, just new ones now. Why take a chance.

The heat checking on any used flywheel is trying to tell you something. It's surface hardness is as uneven as that heat checking. That makes it very difficult to resurface them evenly. Some folks will tell you that grinding works better than cutting, but I'm not convinced. Go new.
