Wrong 911 image @ Conoco gas stations

Here in Colorado, there is a gasoline provider called Conoco ---whose the geographical extent outside my state I do not know. As I filled up my S6 Avant today with 91 octane, this goofy image of a red 911 Turbo at gas station comes up on the pump's LED color display. What was bizarre was the gas pump hose is going into the rear of the 911 , ie. the engine compartment! Geez what an idiotic mistake and potentially bad trademark infringement by Conoco. Has anybody else seen this? It was one of those blatant offenses against Porschephiles that only a 911 owner would feel (along with everybody wanting to tell you that inane porcupine joke once they know you have a 911). Oh well.

Happy New Years everybody!

Don't just blame Conoco....saw the same thing here in the Rainforest, at a Chevron station. Obviously, some sort of universally bogus software loaded into the pump brain.

Beacon in the San Francisco area has the same thing. I thought it was cool, though (albeit, laughingly inaccurate).

What's the porcupine joke? We're very isolated here in RI.

Q) How is a porcupine different from a Porsche?

A) With a porcupine the pricks are on the outside.

You're the prick. Get it now? (altough I think the joke would work better for people who own American muscle cars).

What you have witnessed is one of the initial efforts of the SCWDP joining forces with the big oil companies. More information is here.

It is futile to resist. MMMMUUUUUHHHHHAAAAA!!!

Bill, (zotman),

You have an S6 Avant? Now I'm friggin' jealous! I was driving through the Vail pass on I-70 a couple days ago when one of those passed me going 100+mph w/ a V-1 on the windshield, "Show me the way, speed demon!"

Was it you?

seen that image a few months ago in Bremen Germany...you would think that here in the homeland that the image would have been corrected!

Well in Colorado, if you are up in the mts much during the winter, hate SUVs, & like fast "practical euro cars, " then an Audi S car is your only intelligent option. I do blast up the passes on boost leaving the V8 behemoths behind. But that was not me on Vail pass the other day. I daresay my 95.5 S6 Avant is the best damn car I ever owned and combined with my '72 911S clone, I am set for life when it comes to vehicles. My German car bigotry showing full colors here.

So apparently that goofy pump image is all over the country/world. That is amazing, I thought it had to be local as it was sooo wrong with respect to the car marque we all love.

It's a conspiracy man!

I don't think the image is a turbo at all. It is actually a 1972 RS/RSR clone and the big oil companies are trying to get people to put fuel in the side oil door. They think if they destroy all the remaining 72 models (other than the ones they have stored away in a secret location somewhere in the Nevada desert) it will drive up the cost of these coveted cars and they will be RICH!!!...

Oh wait, they already are rich.

Maybe it's just a mistake... Or maybe...

re:Conoco

Conoco and Phillips have just merged and are I think the third largest oil company in the US. They are world-wide, so Conoco stations must be all over the place in the States. Oh, I work for a tiny part called ConocoPhillips Canada Limited. Michael
