Seduction Motorsports 550 Spyder Replicas

Unfortunately there is not a good place on Pelican for 550 Spyder related stuff, hence my posting in this subforum where I'm most active because of my 84 911.

I had the pleasure of being able to visit Seduction Motorsports and do a little write up on them. I hope you enjoy it.
I came away truly impressed.

personally - I am saving up for one from 502 motorsports. Theirs is an all aluminum body. Direct reproduction from an original chassis (#69 I believe)

Had the pleasure of viewing on at Rennsport and last year at Spanish Bay during the pebble beach car week

I'm a little concerned about the lug nuts. You're supposed to have at least 2 threads showing past the nut.

This could just be a bad picture.

Nice looking cars. I like their style and attention to detail.

We had a 911 powered Spyder a few years back, fun little cars:

That engine would be pretty easy to work on. I'd love to have something so simple to maintain.

Seduction does an all aluminum body one as well, just not listed on their website. Prices start at $120k, $150k with a turnkey Porsche Type 4 engine built by FAT Performance.

BTW, those wheel studs pass inspection as far as DOT, I've been searching for a manufacture with studs 2-4mm longer but they don't offer them, only ones we can source are super long ones or those. Might be manufacturing titanium wheel studs to the correct length here soon when I find some free time.

6'5" and I can't fit in a Dodge Viper coupe or a Shelby Cobra/Daytona. Can't get my legs under the steering wheel!

Actually that has nothing to do with the strength of a bolted joint. It is true that typically manufacturers will spec a few thread sticking past the overlapping threaded area of the joint but this is more for manufacturing variation and because they already spec the overlapping threaded area to be the minimum for the application to minimize cost. The amount of overlapping threaded area is what matters (assuming the other variables are static - material, thread pitch, friction coeffecient, etc). Most bolted joints have way more overlapping area than required.

Counter example. If lug nut was shallower and the stud the same length, would that change your opinion? that would actually be less thread overlap and weaker!

Additional information about bolted joints:
calculator - Minimum Length of Thread Engagement Formula and Calculations Per FED-STD-H28/2B | Engineers Edge
example - FASTENER - Thread Strength Analysis Program - Example Problem

Mr Lucas, please don't interject facts or engineering principles into the conversation when they tend to run counter to holy writ as passed down by PCA, SCCA, etc. You really don't want to make their heads explode, do you?

Ha, funny. Coworker (also an engineer) just had a SCCA tech official say he didn't care how long the thread overlap was, it was unsafe for the same scenario even though there was more than an inch of overlap! Anyway, enough about that.

How about those boys at SM getting it done right!

I was the chief driving instructor for our local PCA chapter. Somebody brought out a 550 Spider replica to one of our HPDEs... Nobody else would instruct in it with the lap belts and flimsy steering wheel so I was stuck with it...

Death Trap... I will never forget how bendy this Original Porsche steering wheel was.

We did 7/10ths with it and had fun but I refused to let the student push it.

Definitely wasn't a Seduction built chassis/body 550. I've driven so many of the 550 spyders out there and I agree, death traps. But the Seduction chassis/body doesn't flex and with the RideTech suspension, its a beast out on the track!
