6452267

6=six cylinders

4=U.S. S engine or U.S. Carrera engine for 1975. 75 Carrera engine has 165 hp.

5=1975 engine

2267=build number.

+1 Just confirmed in Redbook. 6450001-6452440 is range for US Carrera. Engine type 911/43 That 43 number s/b near the serial number.

Must qualify the above.

The US 911S and US Carrera have the same engine number and serial number range. 2310 911S' were made 395 Carreras were made. Build numbers don't add up but the 2310 number is called a 49 state 911/43. All I got.

The primary question I believe is answered. If someone wants a pic of the Redbook page, PM me and I will e-mail it to you.

My take it is a US Carrera or US 911S engine. Actually I see where ossiblu noted it is an S engine or Carrera engine.

It is a 2.7, not a 3.0. Carrera 3.0 engines have an engine type prefix of 930 (e.g., 930/02) given the case derived from the Turbo and I don't see them listed until model year 1976 thru 77.

I've often wondered what the mechanical differences are in a 1975 2.7L 911S and the 911Carrera engine.

Mine is serial number 6451005 and reading the latest Red Book, page 50, believe it's a Carrera engine. But is has CIS instead of Jetronic as the book states and no air pump, probably removed.

Still see little difference in these motors; all very confusing and I see no justification in hanging a "Carrera" badge on the back deck!!!

Agree, there is no mechanical difference between the US 75 carrera engine and the US 911S engine--Porsche uses the same number sequence in identifying the engine for both.

"Jetronic" is the Bosch name for its fuel injection systems, in general, so CIS is also Jetronic--it is not a system separate from Jetronic.
