AC Air Routing
With the protective cover removed it is easy to see the ducting that supplies the cold air to the vents on the right and left ends of the dash. Talking about '84 to '89 Carrera. What is the routing for the cold air to the center of the dash outlet? Does it involve the fresh air plenum assembly? If anyone has a photo I would appreciate seeing it. I am in the desert Southwest where fresh air is always hot air and I have been thinking about removing the fresh air plenum and blower it it does not compromise the routing of cold air from the AC.

There are numerous threads on this topic. Here is a great pictorial view.
86-89 Carrera w/out AC -- what comes out the dash vents?

If you close of the dash levers, no fresh air will enter the cab. The center vents only pumps out AC air, the side as well and the Bow Tie on Penlum under the dash. The sides can be mixed with the fresh air or heated air if opened by the dash levers. If the dash levers are functioning properly and the flappers are sealing, fresh air will not pass into the cab.
