I have a 1968 fixed window targa with matching numbers motor. However the transmission is not matching what I have in my COA.
Current transmission has the following markings; Number 7191763 Case number 901.301.101.0R Then near the case number there is a circle with a 38/68 Can someone with access the specsheets decifer these numbers? Thank you |

7 = trans for 6 cyl engine
1 = std ratio 5-speed 9 = 1969 1763 = sequential number Perhaps your car was originally a Sportomatic, and was converted using a transmission that was as close as possible to being market correct.

According to the COA my car originally came with transmission 3280711 (902/1)
I don't believe that was a sportomatic. What about the other numbers? What does the 33/68 refer to? |

That's the casting date for the transmission housing, indicates 33rd week of 1968.

3280711 (902/1) : pretty standard Al case 5 speed for 1968
gears A 11:34 F 18:34 M 22:29 S 25:26 X 28:24 P&R=7:31 7191763 (901/07) : standard Al case 5 speed for 1969 gears A 11:34 F 18:34 M 22:29 S 25:26 Z 29:23 P&R=7:31 Case number 901.301.101.0R is for Al case The casting date does not mean much except to me probably.
