Question re: mounting front fenders

I am assembling my car after getting it painted, and I cannot remember if there is supposed to be a rubber gasket between where the fenders bolt to the tub. I don't remember ever having one, but is just seems like it would be needed.

It's a putty-like sealing tape. Here is what Pelican sells: Terostat Sealing Tape

Thanks Mark. Unfortunately the Pelican catalog says that this is for 1974-1989. My car is a 1972. I just don't know whether using this will cause problems in an earlier car. Any opinions?

I don't have a long hood but if you need the thin strip of putty let me know. I still have a partial roll. I think there might be enough to do another car.
