Thanks for all the great responses.
I'm running a 225 RE11 up front on a 7 inch rim with an offset of 23. The rear is a 245 RE11 on a 9 inch rim with an offset of 11. My shop went a little overboard lowering the front and the tires started rubbing pretty bad. They rolled the fenders (naturally the paint cracked) and it seems I have the appropriate clearance now. Just not sure I like the balloonish look of the 225 on the 7 inch rim. It doesn't understeer as much though... The 245 in the 9 inch rim looks pretty good. We're going to lower the rear and do a proper alignment soon as it's raked up a bit now out back. Curious what you guys think of the setup and suggestions? http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...c91b25e007.jpg http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...af0aa4d4a1.jpg http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...e60041c6cc.jpg http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...02e42407ca.jpg http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...6a4ed2506e.jpg Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk |

Is the overall height of these tires comparable to stock? Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk |

deputydog95,
7" rims look perfect with the 205/55/16 tires, with this tire the rim just looks correct. The sidewall height looks right and the tire does not balloon. In addition, I think the side wall height of the 205/55/16 will closely match the rear 245/45/16 on the rear. Here's a good calculator: Tire Size Calculator – Tire dimensions/diameter/circumference/revolutions per mile The 205/55/16 has sidewall at 113mm The 245/45/16 at 110mm |
Can you run a 205 front with a 245 rear? This is a street only car, but will it push like a biatch having so much tire out back?

205/55 and 245/45-16 tires have about the same overall diameter. It's a commonly-used tire combination for RS, SC and Carrera flared cars with few issues when used with 7&9" Fuchs (front tire-to-lip clearance when lowered).
Here's a couple of additional tire size calculators. I like the first one below: Custom rims, wheel tire packages for your ride - RIMSnTIRES.com Online Wheel and Tyre Fitment Calculator. Offset, Tyre Stretch and Speedo Error | Will They Fit Sherwood |

I'm running 225/45-16 front and 245/45-16 rear on 7&8" rims..no rubbing but front fenders are rolled

I had 7s and 9s X16 on my 87 Carrera coupe with RE11s, 225-50s in front, 245-45s in the rear. Wheels were done RSR style by Harvey Weidman. My car came with rolled fronts, never had rubbing at all.
I still have a pair of never mounted RE11s in 245-45 if interested. http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/l...psguefzdg9.jpg |
I have 225 (7 inch) front and 245 (8 inch) rears on one car, and 225 (7.5 inch) front 255 (9 inch) rears on another car. The 255s in the rear come really close, but never rub, and I like the way they fill the rear fender more than 245.

Since my 85 won't be tracked... Could I ditch the 225's on the front and use a pair of these instead? I'd get more clearance and it would fit better on the rim. 225 seems like a lot of tire for a 7 inch wheel.

I run this 205/55/16 size on 7" rims on the front of my 84 M491 Widebody it's the spec tire for the car as listed on the sticker in the engine bay. When I bought the car it had 225/50/16s on the front they just looked wrong on the 7" rim. I'm far more satisfied with the 205s. Overall side wall height is the same but the tire does not look ballooned on the 7" rim. Not sure about them rubbing since I have a the wide turbo fenders on my car I've never had issues like that. You won't be disappointed.
The 225/50/16 in my opinion belongs on a 8" rim, my same car has 8" rims on the rear from the factory and the spec sticker shows the rear tires to be 225/50/16s. I simply followed Porsche's specs for the 7" and 8" rims, figured that would be wise. The car looks far better now. I have pics before but I'd need to take a pic now so I can share the before and after. Quote:
