Taillight housing LED lightweight
Any quality lightweight taillight housings with LEDs available? I am not looking for a kit with leds plugged into the standard sockets as that leaves an unnecessary connection. Also looking for front housings of same design.

Well, you could build one like my buddy did for his track car in attempts to lighten her up. I have to say it was much lighter than the OEM paper weights.

Thanks for the replies.
Draco: I could build some, but there are only so many hours in a day. Will: Please let me know when done. My criteria: LEDs for increased response time of brakes (this translates to quite a few feet at speed), and no sockets to corrode. Reasonable weight (unlike the originals).

For the front, you can get spoke's LED boards and cut off the bulb base. Then attach quick disconnect spade terminals to route directly to the car's wiring. That's what I did.

This is as light as it gets. Trailer indicators wired direct on glassed in housing.

For several reasons, I just replaced my rear taillight housings with plastic ones from Sierra Madre. I already had LED brake light boards from Pelican member Spoke and also added his rear LED rear turn signals. While Spoke's LED lights, which are very well made and seem to be universally approved of, are made to plug and play into the existing bulb sockets, I suppose you could remove the sockets and direct wire LED boards to the taillight housing wiring in order to eliminate the connection.

DC auto in North Carolina sells plastic tail light housings from a German (I think) manufacturer. They are on Flea Bay too.
