DELETE : Power Windows ??

Has anyone removed the power windows from their car ( SC + ) ?

I'm not one to shy away from difficult project.
What would it entail ?

I'm looking at putting RSA door panels. I would like to remove the power windows before I do that.

PS : This is my 911th post, Cool.

911th. Are you gonna change your name

I think you just need to change to the manual regulators. Everything else should work.

I installed power windows in my 69` . I wasnt thinking of weight savings earlier in the time the car was being built. It was a direct swap however. All the bolt holes and provisions are in the doors for power or manual windows. I plan to switch back to manual either this winter or next. I believe the power regulators were redesigned in the mid 80`s. My 79` 930 regulators were different than my 86` carrerra units. The 86 units are much better designed. I would imagine the manual regulators were redesigned at that same time.

Cool

there is some kind of a window regulator pin that goes bad.. a stronger pin is available that's made of a stronger steel.. may have to match up the old soft pin to a new stronger pin.. when the old soft pin goes kaput the window travel is kaput.. it's easy to tell the new design regulators from the old style.. eyeball both before buying an old style used one.................Ron

Easy

Just change the power regulator to a manual one it bolts up 1 hour job seriously. make sure you get window cranks.
the wiring harness is by itself to the fuse box. Use the now unused relay hole for something like a oil cooler fan.

I'm also getting rid of my heavy electric motors for hand cranks. It would be nice to see some pictures. I understand pictures better than the written word. John

Here's the PP catalog page

Window Regulators

Having trouble raising your window? Tired of driving without getting some fresh air? Replace your broken window regulator with a brand new one. These often deteriorate and fail after many years of use and abuse. Replace your window guide channels too while your replacing your regulator. Note: When replacing the early-style parallel arm regulators, you need the late-cross arm style, plus the adapter kit. See Technical Bulletin #7

Sorry, that's not much help.

Maybe a photo would be clearer. I haven't mastered the scanner, yet.
