1972 911T tire suggestions please??
Hello All,
I live in Canada and it will soon be time to tuck the car away under a blanket but I would like to get some new rubber. Here's the scoop: -I drive the car less than 3k miles per year. Summer, dry days, no track. -I want it to look period correct but with good handling performance. -I have 205/60R15 on the car now and it handles very well. -I think the car may have been lowered a bit. See photo. Any suggestions on brands and/or size that I should go with?? Thank you all in advance, Joe ![]() |

In that size there are quite a few H rated tires with 400 tread wear rating.
For your type of driving pick the one that you like the look of best

Any reason for buying them now vs waiting until spring?
No specific recommendation, but personally, I would wait until spring. Let them sit at the warehouse instead taking up space in your garage, plus the warranty will start then. NICE 72!

Thanks guys. If it's a better deal I would get them now otherwise spring is ok too.
Is the current tire too big for the car? Anyone suggest 185 or 195? I've heard of vredstein? Sprint classic on this forum before and while they look period correct I'm afraid they may not perform as well. Anybody have these? Thanks again. |

I'm not certain what you do with your car which, BTW, is beautiful.
I bought some Kumho Platinum something or an other and they work fine for street and aggressive cornering. Really a good bargain and maybe they'll be cheaper in the Spring!! Tom |

If you want period correct look go with the Avon CR6ZZ. Roger Kraus Racing imports them from England. Pricey but have great reviews on early S registry. Correct original 185mm tread width and vintage looking sidewalls and tread pattern.

Another period correct tire is the new classic line of Pirelli CN36 in 185/70 x15, these are supposed to be a modern tire in material and construction w/ the correct appearance of the old CN36 that was oe on 911 of that era

I've also heard that people like the Pirelli P 6000 on that car
As for size, I was quite happy with that size on the track on a 72
