Cruise control works after about 30-40 minutes

My cruise control seems to be working after about 30-40 minutes. Car is an 85 Carrera Targa. I think people have mentioned vacuum hoses as the culprit - can some one point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

The cruise control vacuum unit is located on the firewall near the #3 cylinder head. Small coffee can shape. It has at least two vacuum hoses attached, one small and one large. They may also be connected to the vacuum canister thingie behind the oil tank. Maybe to the brake booster too. That's about the extent of my knowledge.
