Tunnel Carpet install question

I am installing Appbiz RS carpet in my G50 car - I am deleting center console. Can I unscrew the 3 bolts that hold shifter in place and tuck carpet underneath? Or am I going to screw something up. Should I just glue carpet as close as possible to bracket/frame? I am also thinking about tucking a shift boot under there, too. Opinions welcomed. Cheers

I think you can unscrew that. On a 915 you definitely can. Someone who's done it on a G50 should weigh in though.

Use the rubber shift boot, and let it sit on top of the carpet. No need to tuck it under. I did that on my car and the boot stays put. The edges of the carpet are hidden under it, so there is no need to make the hole perfect.

This is a good idea. 911 shifters are pretty finicky so it's not worth it placing your shifter even that slightly higher amount above its normal mounting position.

I deleted the center console on my 915 gearbox car and added an AppBiz carpet as described by proschenut. If you use a 915 rubber boot, there is a groove around the bottom that you can shape the carpet opening to so that it fits flush to the boot. When installed, it should cover everything up nicely.
