BHP XLS brake pads - replacements wanted
My beloved BHP XLS brake pads (BHP-S0011 and S0910) were worn out and I ended up with Hawk Performance replacements.
Initial bite when cold with the BHP pads were superior to the new pads. Hot performance is good with either With my use and spoilt as I am from the BHP pads I am on the lookout for new pads, with cold performance similar to the BHP XLS if such a thing exist. Btw I also replaced the disks at the same time and did the breaking in procedure, so the difference in brake feel is definitely related to the pads I would appreciate any advice

street use. Cold and wet climate. I now run the Hawk HPS Performance pads. I also triied ATE and Brembo pads but none of these have much initial bite when cold compared to the BHP pads. The Hawk pads are great when hot

For Street, I recommend Porterfield's R4S, No Noise, Low Dust, Awesome Braking. No Bedding, just Plug and Play per Porterfield.
For Track, Raybestos caveat, noisy as hell and not so great when cold but when she warms up WATCH OUT

I believe what set the old BHP XLS pads apart was how the brake feel was the same almost, hot or cold&wet. Very predictable independent on conditions and up for a track day as well !
Sportier pads need to be hot to work properly and the current pads are great for active driving but 95% of the time my brakes are cold and after the change of pads not working very well at all Maybe I'll just stick on the boxter brakes sitting on my shelves and see how i like those. That was the original plan but with previous pads I just did not see the need

as a follow up I got a set of OE Porsche part no pads through the dealership. I am very happy to report braking performance as I wanted it is restored. Not as good as the NLA BHP pads by far but good enough that it does not annoy me. And I don't expect these will tear up my disks the same way. I now have proper brakes when driving to the office in the morning. I no longer tink my brake booster might haver died. I have saved the other 6 sets in the basement if I should ever feel inclined to race.
