chips in the strut finish

Hi Pelicans - abundance of caution, maybe - I received a strut that wasn't packed well, and busted partially out of the box. The finish is now chipped. I know I can go thru the claims process, but wondering if the juice is worth the squeeze, if the chips seen here aren't worth the trouble. What would you do? I'm in no rush to get it on the car, haven't even stripped off the old struts and suspension components yet.

Thanks, Pelicans!

Remove the bad paint and hit it with some John Deere green paint.

Not worth it, it will cost you more to ship it back. I know it sucks but the drop ship warehouse also is horrible with metal gaskets. I received the gasket bent but the return shipping was more than the damn part.

I would ask for a discount or complain to owner. This is not a cheap part so they really should take better care.

When I received my 84MM Dansk Muffler, man was that over padded, very happy with packaging. Believe me even a scratch and it was going back to the drop ship hand delivered by me with ALLOT of Biotchen

Bummer that it is damaged. However, after a few miles there will be a lot more chips in that strut's paint. I don't think where yours are chipped it is visible anyway.

Now if you are going for full concourse, well, that is a different story.
