Question re: rear seat operation in early 911s
This feels like a dumb question, but here goes:
when I bought my '74 recently, the rear seat backs were down. Didn't think much of it at the time, as that's how I prefer them. But when I try to put the rear seatbacks in an upright position, they don't stay put. The carpet behind the seat accordions, and then the carpet prevents me from pushing the seatback to where I think it "should" be. Also, I see no locking mechanism to keep them in place. Make sense? Gonna try to attach some photos to help explain. |

There should be leather straps on the outboard side of the back rest with a snap that snaps onto the rear package shelf. They often rip or go missing, my guess is they are missing in your car. Starting in 86.5 for coupes and targa's (83 for Cab) they went to a red locking pin on the bottom.

You can see the strap in this photo. Whether or not the male snap in on the rear parcel tray is another story.

Thanks. Now I'm a bit embarrassed. I have the straps (barely visible in the last pic) but never reached behind the package shelf in the right spot to find the snaps. A tinted rear window doesn't help. Love this community!
