Many cranks before start - 993

I have a 1995 993, that has a hard time starting. It cranks over 8-10 times and then starts. It starts every time, but just takes a while. Cold or hot. I replaced the fuel pump check valve. After i did that it started up right away for the first 3 or 4 starts, but then reverted back to 8-10 cranks again. What could be the issue?????

Please help. Thanks.

Leaky injector, faulty pressure regulator. Run some Techron through it, just for laughs.

If you put a gauge on the fuel rail, you can confirm that you are not losing pressure.

I am thinking Leaky injectors. The car would be running poorly if the fuel pressure regulator was bad right? It runs fine. I will try the Techron first. If that does not help i will measure the pressure. If it is a leaky injector it seems like WitchHunter is the place to send them. Does anyone know if they have any issues with cleaning 993 injectors?

Thanks again.

Injectors

We ( Rothsport) used them for a couple years, but had issues. First thing was they stripped the paint off of the injector bodies, so if they were not repainted they rust. Some of the injectors would not work when first installed unless you tapped on them.

I found another source to get the injectors cleaned, and they come back painted instead of bare metal. We have been very happy with the results and turn-around time.

The problem was the fuel pressure regulator. I pulled the vacuum hose off it and let it idle for about 2-3 mins and gas started sputtering out of it. Super easy to put the new one on.
